Jami Floyd is an American journalist, legal and political analyst, and television and radio host. Her experience spans local, network, cable and syndicated television, broadcast radio and digital media. She is nationally and internationally regarded as an expert on law and politics, especially where they intersect. She reports and blogs on sports, culture and civil rights. For fun Jami likes to read Shakespeare (yes, that's fun, not homework) and get lost in Central Park. She lives in New York City with her husband, two children and a menagerie of animals.
In spring 2014, Jami served as a regional panelist for the President's Commission on White House Fellows, helping the President and his commissioners identify the next class of White House Fellows to serve in Washington.
Founded in 1964, the White House Fellows program is one of America's most prestigious leadership programs. White House Fellowships offer exceptional young people first-hand experience working at the highest levels of government.
In 2014, Jami joined the Nominating Committee of the Screen Actor's Guild (SAG).
The SAG Nominating Committee will determine the nominees for the 21st Annual Screen Actor's Guild Awards for this year's outstanding performances in film and primetime television.
In 2014, Jami served on the panel of judges that selected the Innocence Network Journalism Award winners for the 2013 calendar year.
The Innocence Network Journalism Award was created to honor investigative reporting that brings to life the process of identifying and exonerating wrongfully convicted individuals. Every year it is an honor for Jami to serve on the awards panel.
In August 2013 a new cable news network Al Jazeera America launched, based in New York City. Al Jazeera America (AJAM) produces fact-based, in-depth news with a focus on investigative journalism, but also including sports, business, and lifestyle. At its inception, Jami joined AJAM as the network's Legal Contributor and, in that capacity, has covered legal stories of US and international significance.
This year, NYC Media, in partnership with TED: Ideas Worth Spreading, will premiere an exciting new program that will bring TED Conversations from the Internet to television. Jami Floyd hosts "Ted Talks in NYC" and brings in exciting new voices, from the New York City area, to help deconstruct and debate the most popular topics the Technology Entertainment and Design community have to offer.
